Terra Magicae: Chapter 6

Read Chapter 5 HERE

It’s been a few weeks since I worked on this, so I’m going to start with a little recap. This is as much for my benefit as it is for someone who might be reading this.

Roughly in the year 100 C.E. (as we would reckon) the Roman Empire is searching far and wide for a mysterious red ore that “fell from the sky”. Their search takes them far beyond the borders of their empire as we knew it, in our history. They are lead by mysterious sorcerers, who can control the elements and summon destruction with a word.  It is rumored that they can even see into the future or see far off events beyond their natural sight.

A group of disparate slaves from across the empire, and beyond, are packed aboard ships and sailed west across the great sea to an unknown land, where they are forced to dig in a crater rich with this mysterious red ore. Among these slaves are Aržak, Sigeberht, and Meleke.

They soon realize exposure to the red ore has given them some of the power the Romans are able to wield. Not long after that discovery, they find a little in-human creature, called Chobo, who wants to eat the red ore, believing it will make him big and strong. He claims to be a member of a tribe of creatures from “another world”. In exchange for some red ore agrees to help the slaves escape.

The three are able to escape, along with many of their fellow slaves, but not without causing a riot in the Roman mine.

And that is where our story resumes.

In the Moo of Madness

This is one I started writing maybe two years back, based on some antics I got up to with a pal in an online game. Finally got around to finishing it this week. More to come on its origins at the end. Enjoy!

Traudl Quest: Part 8 — The grand finale!

I know, I skipped a week, it was honestly on accident due to my work schedule shifting around last week. By the time I realized it, I decided rather than rushing to dump this out a day late, I’d just hold off a week.

If I’m being honest, an extra week didn’t help. I’ll explain more after the story. Enjoy! PLEASE!!!

Traudl Quest: Part 7

I thought this would be the final entry, but it started getting way too long. So I promise this is the penultimate chapter. It wraps up next week!

When we last left Traudl, she was deep in the evil domain of the fiend, Mozebarr. I already spoiled that this isn’t the final chapter, so I won’t pretend she fights and defeats him this time out. So… there goes that excitement.

But, please… read anyway! I promise it’s good!

Traudl Quest: Part 5

Ok, I’m a day late, but in my defense, I did have this just about ready to go out last night, but it was a holiday. I was doing my duty, as an American, to partake in all the most important patriotic duties: watching baseball, eating hot dogs, and watching fireworks while songs play, unironically, that sound patriotic, but are actually critical of some aspect of American society.

Anyway, Traudl’s quest continues with a shocking new development. Could she have found what she was looking for already? Obviously not, there are still a few more chapters to go!

Traudl Quest: Part 1

Back to the well this week. Here’s the first part of something I wrote almost twenty-five years ago. I’ve basically re-written from the ground up in order to detach it from a larger series I was working on (that never went anywhere), and also to make it a little less on the nose than it originally was. A little more background and explanation will follow.

Enjoy!
